Louis is a 5-year-old Husky mix with a heart as big as his smile. This handsome boy is people-friendly and dog-friendly, affectionate, and a total love bug who thrives on attention and companionship.

He already knows his basic commands, which makes him a joy to work with and an easy addition to a loving home. Louis is the kind of dog who just wants to be near his people—soaking up love, sharing quiet moments, and reminding you every day how special rescue dogs truly are.
We know without a doubt that Louis’ forever family is out there—a family who will see the amazing dog he is and give him the home he’s been patiently waiting for.
Could that be you? 🐶❤️
Thor is a 15-month-old German Shepherd who is still very much a puppy at heart. He’s playful, curious, and full of that classic shepherd enthusiasm that makes people fall in love with the breed.

Thor is dog-friendly and enjoys spending time with his canine friends. He also genuinely likes people of all ages and greets everyone with happy energy and a wagging tail. Because he’s young and excited about the world, Thor is still learning his manners — including improving his leash skills and working on not jumping up when meeting new people. He’s making great progress with consistent training and guidance.
Thor thrives with:
- Regular exercise and playtime
- Mental stimulation and continued training
- Clear, kind leadership
- A family who understands that puppies need time, patience, and consistency
Thor is eager to learn, loves to be involved, and wants nothing more than to be part of a family who will help him grow into the incredible dog he’s meant to be. With structure and positive reinforcement, he has all the potential to become a loyal, well-mannered companion.
If you’re looking for a fun, friendly, and intelligent young dog who’s ready to learn and love, Thor might just be your perfect match.
Hemi is a 15-year-old senior and one of Apollo’s Pals’ most beloved long-term sanctuary residents. He is living with multiple progressive medical conditions, including Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (CCD), often referred to as canine dementia, and degenerative muscle myopathy, a condition that causes ongoing muscle weakness and loss of strength.
As these conditions advance, Hemi experiences periods of confusion, anxiety, and increasing physical limitations. His muscle myopathy has significantly impacted his mobility and endurance, and he now requires hand-feeding. While Hemi is still eating and enjoying his meals, this additional support is necessary to ensure he continues to receive proper nutrition comfortably and safely.
Hemi’s care is focused entirely on comfort, consistency, and quality of life. His daily routine includes:
- Medications to help manage anxiety and cognitive changes
- Support and assistance with mobility and muscle weakness
- Hand-feeding to ensure continued nourishment
- A calm, structured environment to reduce stress and confusion
- Ongoing veterinary oversight to monitor progression and quality of life
Degenerative muscle myopathy is a progressive condition, and as it advances, it can eventually affect the muscles involved in breathing. Ray and I have made the deeply painful but loving decision that when Hemi loses the use of his back legs, we will do the right thing for him and set him free. We will never allow Hemi to suffer.
This decision breaks our hearts, but it comes from a promise we made to him — to keep him happy, comfortable, and safe, and to honor his life with the dignity he so deeply deserves. Every day we have with Hemi is a gift, and until that time comes, he will continue to be surrounded by love, patience, and gentle care.
Hemi embodies the true meaning of sanctuary: standing by an animal through every chapter of life, even when it hurts, and choosing compassion above all else.
Abbott is one of Apollo’s Pals’ special-needs dogs and has been under ongoing veterinary care for Protein-Losing Enteropathy (PLE), a serious autoimmune condition that affects his ability to properly absorb nutrients.
Recently, Abbott experienced a setback that included gastrointestinal distress and significant diarrhea, signaling that his condition needed immediate attention and adjustment. After veterinary evaluation and treatment, Abbott has been deemed clinically stable, which means his disease is currently being managed and is no longer in a critical stage.
While this is encouraging news, Abbott’s journey is far from over. He will require lifelong management, including:
- Weekly B12 injections
- Daily supplements and medications
- Routine bloodwork every six weeks
- A strict, specialized diet to support his protein levels
Abbott will continue to need regular veterinary monitoring and ongoing support to maintain his stability and quality of life. Despite his medical challenges, he remains a gentle, loving soul who enjoys the simple comforts of safety, routine, and care.
Abbott’s story represents the reality of sanctuary life — committing to animals not just in their healthiest moments, but through their most vulnerable ones. We are honored to continue walking this journey with him.
The year 2025 has been one of the most challenging — and meaningful — years in the history of Apollo’s Pals Sanctuary Rehabilitation & Adoption.
This past year, we continued our commitment to responsible rescue and long-term care by ensuring that every adoptable dog and cat, as well as our sanctuary residents, were spayed or neutered whenever medically appropriate. We also remained dedicated to our work with feral cats, prioritizing spay/neuter as the most effective way to reduce suffering and overpopulation while allowing these cats to live safely within their managed colonies.
One of our greatest milestones in 2025 was the completion of the Allan Christopher Cat Cottage, a long-awaited space designed entirely with our cats’ comfort and wellbeing in mind. In addition to the indoor living areas, the cottage features a 25-foot enclosed catio, allowing the cats to safely enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and outdoor sights and sounds while remaining fully protected from the elements and wildlife. Watching the cats explore, relax, and truly thrive in their new environment has been one of the brightest joys of the year.

Despite the many challenges, we are proud to share that 25 cats and kittens found loving forever homes in 2025. Each adoption represents a life changed — not only for the animals, but for the families who opened their hearts and homes.
Alongside these successes, 2025 also brought profound heartbreak.
We said goodbye to our sweet Nikita, who passed due to age and cancer after a life filled with love and safety. We unexpectedly lost Zeke to an anaphylactic reaction, a sudden and devastating loss that deeply shook our sanctuary family. We also said farewell to Miss Harry, who passed from old age and organ failure, having known compassion and gentle care in her final chapter.
Each of these souls was deeply loved, and their absence is felt every day.
This year reminded us that sanctuary work is not just about saving lives — it is about standing by animals through every season, including the hardest ones. While 2025 tested our hearts in ways we never anticipated, it also brought many blessings: successful adoptions, meaningful progress, community support, and the privilege of caring for animals who might otherwise have been forgotten.
We move forward with gratitude — for our supporters, our volunteers, and for every animal who has trusted us with their life. Thank you for walking beside us through a year we will never forget.

Earlier this year, we took in Butterfly and through several visits to the vet, we are happy to report that she is doing well! We will start taking adoption applications for her in August.
Butterfly is up to 72 lbs and has had her spay surgery. She’s had surgery on her tail from frostbite and has gone through her heartworm treatments. August will be testing her and that’s why we’re waiting to accept adoption applications. Please note that she will have to be brought into a single dog family!

Check out our TikTok videos of Butterfly: Showing Off! & A Great Day!
We also have over 20 cats/kittens up for adoption!

Ray and I recently did a kitty round up and caught a bunch of ferals along with their mamas. We are currently in the process of getting the mamas fixed so we don’t have this same issue next year and once the babies are old enough they will also be fixed!
Prince has been adopted and Zeke currently has an adoption hold! While these pups look forward to their new homes, we are also welcoming Sir Arthur Artemis (pictured lounging inside below)! Sir Arthur will be joining us as a sanctuary only dog while we do still have Mateo (pictured on the log below), patiently waiting for his next forever home!

Apollo’s Pals has added a new member to the pack! We would like to introduce Butterfly
; Butters for short!

She was left at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter parking lot last Sunday evening. She had been starved for several months and is 25-30 lbs underweight. Butters is estimated to be between 5-11 years old.
Having a rough go at life, Butters was abused and neglected during the recent freeze and contracted frostbite on her nose and tail. She is in need of amputation, which has been quoted between $3000 – $5000. Apollo’s Pals is seeking donations to assist with the cost. Every little bit helps! Donate (paypal.com)
Hello family and friends,
Apollos Pals is sad to bring you the news that yesterday September 18 at 1:30 PM, Charles James affectionately known as CJ left this earth, and joined Apollo on the other side of the rainbow bridge. Ray and I and all the animals are heartbroken and so sad over the loss. It is never enough time. We take solace knowing that when CJ came to us, he came to us with four months to live, and that was 19 months ago.
CJ became my shadow the moment he got to us. We will miss him deeply but know that he is running free and no longer in pain, and we are sure he’s telling Apollo all about the sanctuary and the squirrels he chased, the school buses he barked at, and how much he was truly loved.
For the 19 months he was with us, he knew that humans were good, that a hand meant a soft touch and not hurt. He had multiple comfy squishy beds, to choose from, and a couch to lay on, and truly a family to love him.

This is Bubbles Mackenzie! She is a female 2 1/2 year old French bulldog pocket pitty mix. She is spayed and heartworm negative. Bubbles is dog-friendly, people and kid-friendly, potty trained, kennel trained, and housebroken. She loves walks, sitting pretty for treats, and cuddling with her people. She loves to hand out hugs and kisses. Sometimes Bubbles is slow to warm up but if you give her a cookie, she’ll be your best friend. Bubbles is transport eligible, and looking for her forever family.

All adoption fees are $200. If transport is needed, the adopter will pick up all fees and book the transport. If interested, please text (281) 384-5359.
Zeke is a black mouth cur, estimated to be about two years old. He is a big boy, but gentle. He loves to play fetch! Zeke is neutered heartworm negative, eligible for transport, dog-friendly, people and kid-friendly. Zeke also likes to sleep in bed with you if you’ll let him and cuddle on the couch.

All adoption fees are $200. If transport is needed, the adopter will pick up all fees and book the transport. If interested, please text (281) 384-5359.
This is Windy! She is a two-year-old petitie German Shepherd mix. She is also spayed, heartworm negative, dog-friendly, and kid-friendly. Windy loves to take walks and is great on a leash. She would love to go hiking, take a jog around the park, or cuddle up on the couch with her person.
Windy is one of the survivors of the Pasadena tornado: that horrible day that ripped the roof off of the shelter she was in. That’s when Apollo’s Pals stepping in and rescued her. Windy is a great girl! She is smart, treat motivated and loves to please. Windy is also transport eligible.

All adoption fees are $200. If transport is needed, the adopter will pick up all fees and book the transport. If interested, please text (281) 384-5359.

We are in need of donations!
Sweet Abbott has broken his leg. We did x-rays to confirm. The vet is not sure if it’s an old break that has re-broke or if he broke it within this last week. (He’s been using it off and on and even running on it). We are now waiting for a call from Blue Pearl Orthopedics as we’ve been told that he is going to need surgery.
This little guy has been through so much; he came to us from Pasadena animal shelter. We believe he was a bait dog; he’s had to have his tail amputated, because in the process of being rescued, it was bit off by another dog (right before he came to Apollo’s Pals). We have nursed the sweet baby through so much: heartworms, tail amputation, getting accustomed to being around other dogs, which is he’s done great.
Apollo’s Pals is in desperate need of donations so that we can get the surgery done for our sweet Abbott. Every little bit helps. Please if you have anything to spare, please help Abbott. Paypal Link
